This is one of the most important factor to consider, together with other important things, but Eyelash Extension Adhesive or Eyelash Extensions Glue play important rule for the best performance on eyelash extensions application. The better and fast drying this the eyelash extension glue, the more profitable your business become.
Eyelash Extensions use specially formulated adhesives that are safe to use around the eyes area. The main ingredient in eyelash adhesive is cyanoacrylate.
Cyanoacrylates are a strong fast-acting adhesives with and for medical uses. These adhesives have a short shelf life of about three to six months if unopened (Manufacture guide lines), After opened the life is even shorter from one to two months once opened, and must consider to keep the Eyelash Extensions Glue at ambient temperature at all times around 20º Celsius, Also they have some minor toxicity a vapours.
Most of the Eyelash Extension Glue are classified as:
Level 1 – Sensitive: Octyl or Butyl Cyanoacrylates which are weak, and present no fumes and no irritation, the lasting time is very short varying from 5 days to 10 days. But still need to be applied by a qualified professional. These are specially designed for those people with any sort of allergies, and also for botton lashes which are applied with open eyes.
Level 2 and 3: – Professional: Methyl or Ethyl Cyanoacrylates which are the strongest and present fumes and irritation, the lasting time is long varying from 4 to 6 weeks. Still safe to use on the eye area when properly used by a qualified professional. These are designed for long lasting eyelash extensions set, it present fumes and may irritate people with any sort of sensitivity.
Althought a patch test is recomended step to follow during the eyelash extentions consultation.
Don’t be deceived by the term “Medical Grade Adhesives”, they are safe to use on eye and lashes but the true is that not a single Eyelash Extensions Glue is used by medics on human skin, they are approved by organizations such as ISO, ROHS, SGS and are complience with the international trading standards and EU trade standards to be used for Eyelash Extensions Treatments.
Hypoallergic Eyelash Adhesives:
Hypoallergenic Eyelash Extension Adhesive: It must be awesome if it is hypoallergenic! What does hypoallergenic mean anyways? The term “hypoallergenic” is purely a marketing term. There is really no standard of this term. It is not a scientific, medical or government regulated term. Greek prefix hypo means “less” and allergenic means “causing allergies.” The American Food and Drug Administration states, “ Hypoallergenic cosmetics are products that manufacturers claim produce fewer allergic reactions than other cosmetic products. Consumers with hypersensitive skin, and even those with “normal” skin, may be led to believe that these products will be gentler to their skin than non-hypoallergenic cosmetics. There are no Federal standards or definitions that govern the use of the term “hypoallergenic.” So what this means is that hypoallergenic means absolutely NOTHING.
Eyelash Extensions Allergies:
Allergic reactions: In about 5 years on this industry and been selling more than 10000 bottles of glue, and working with more than 5000 eyelash clients, we have seen about 2 authentic allergic reactions that was caused by the eyelash extensions adhesive, which represents 0.04%.
Allergic reaction are possible to occur, and what some clients think is irritation due to allergic reactions to eyelash extensions glue, in most cases is just a normal allergy for something else not necessary from the adhesive.
If allergic reaction to eyelash adhesive really happens, this will cause redness, itching, pinching and massive clumping that doesn’t allow the natural lashes to move and shed freely.
This only happens due unqualified professionals work, skipping the consultation, allergic questions and the patch test and even using too much adhesive and getting it all over the skin, and it will irritate the skin and sensitive areas around the eyes.
This Eyelash Extensions Misconceptions still happens, most due poorly practices, in most cases for cheap work of unqualified professionals applying Eyelash Extensions.
Important Note: No Patch Test can guarantee fully against any sort of allergies as they can develop at any time, even after years of exposure doing eyelash extensions. Limiting your client’s exposure to allergies doing the correct Patch Testing will help, and developing an allergy will be less likely.
